Henry Watterson (1840-1921), Confederate Soldier, Politician & Journalist. Albument print, 4x6 ins on a Klauber, Photo, Louisville, KY mount. There are some surface marks including a slight tear on the upper left which does not affect the portrait. Watterson's name is written in ink on the front. During the American Civil War, Watterson served in the Confederate Army as Aide-de-Camp to General Nathan Bedford Forrest and to General Leonidas Polk. In 1864 Watterson was the chief of scouts in General Joseph E. Johnston's army. Watterson served in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1876. He wrote editorials for the Courier-Journal of Louisvlle, KY for many years and was considered on of the most influential journalists of his day. He won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing in 1918,
